Cultures and Traditions

Today we learnt all about the Swedish tradition of Midsummer from August's mummy. We learnt lots about Sweden, for example we found out about the continuously dark winters and light summers, the changes in the weather and the delicious strawberries. We discovered all about the tradition of picking flowers, making garlands and decorating the Midsummer pole. We found out that Midsummer is considered to be a time of magic, and anything to do with nature is thought to have a special power. We heard so  We joined in with a Swedish song, a dance and tasted a delicious Swedish cake!
